What is a Packaged HVAC Unit?
A packaged HVAC unit is a heat pump, which means it uses two coils and refrigerant to move heat from one place to another. Unlike a typical heat pump, however, a packaged heat pump has both coils housed in a single unit. This unit is installed outside the home, with a duct leading into the home and connecting to the duct network.
A packaged HVAC unit operates in much the same way as any other heat pump. One coil evaporates refrigerant to absorb thermal energy from the surrounding air, then sends it to the other coil to be condensed and release the heat. If in heating mode, the system is releasing thermal energy into the home, while in cooling mode it is venting heat out of the house. Like all heat pumps, packaged air conditioners can reverse the flow of refrigerant through their systems to offer both heating and cooling modes.
The Benefits of Packaged HVAC Systems
Housing the traditional suite of climate control systems in your home takes up a lot of space. Housing both a heater and air conditioner in the home is simply too much of a space commitment for a lot of people. However, those people should still have access to whatever climate control services they need. That’s what packaged heat pumps are for!
A packaged HVAC system offers all the advantages of a heat pump system. It’s more energy efficient than most traditional heating systems, and saves a lot of energy in operating costs on an annual basis. Unlike a normal split heat pump, however, a packaged heat pump saves even more space by being installed outside of the home.
Packaged HVAC System Installation in Ashburn, VA
Installing a packaged HVAC unit requires a bit more than slotting it into the space where your previous climate control system was. Most homes are not already set up for packaged HVAC systems, so there is a bit of construction work that will have to go into installation. If you need a packaged heat pump installed, call AllTech Services, Inc. and we’ll do it for you.
Just like all HVAC systems, packaged heat pumps require the occasional repair and maintenance services. Be sure to call for preventive maintenance at least once a year to help preserve your system as much as possible. If you do happen to notice a problem with your system, though, call AllTech Services, Inc.. We offer full packaged HVAC repair and maintenance services throughout Ashburn, VA.
